"Back up on my bullshit, back up on the scene
Out here actin' foolish, like I'm seventeen
I just bought a new whip, don't need gasoline
I just seen your new bitch, it boost my self-esteem"
Jhené Aiko's highly successful album Chilombo reclaims the title of R&B album of the year this week, as the deluxe addition pushes over 46,000 new units. Chilombo re-enters the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 at #6 and reclaims the #1 spot on the Billboard R&B albums chart.
Chilombo (Deluxe) adds nine previously unreleased bonus tracks and remixes to the original 20-track album, which includes the new single "Summer 2020" and new guest features from Kehlani, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Mila J, and Wiz Khalifa.

Aiko released Chilombo, her third album, back in March. It's a self-titled project, named for her surname (her full name is Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo). The album debuted with a highly impressive 152,000 equivalent album units and 38,000 in sales — good enough for #1 in many weeks, but Aiko finished second behind Lil Uzi Vert's Eternal Atake. Over 170 million first-week streams ranked it as the biggest album debut in four years from a female R&B artist (since Beyoncé's Lemonade in April 2016) and the biggest album debut of Jhené's career.

She's never had a #1 album or a top 10 single. Yet Aiko, 32, has spent the past decade quietly building her catalog with significant influence. She's one of her generation's defining R&B singers and maybe one of the most underrated stars in music today.
